Getting to know Danilo our "Umlungu"

The Gorgeous Danilo strikes a pose!
He's on your T.V every week on the highly popular SABC2 variety teen show HecticNine9, he's gorgeous, fashionable, single and shares our taste in rugby teams.  We got the chance to interview the gorgeous Danilo Acquisto a few weeks ago to find out who he is away from the cameras and what his future plans are (not to mention 2 really important questions). Here it is the long awaited for interview of Danilo S.A's next Ryan Seacrest!

With his co presenters on HecticNine9
1). South Africa sees you almost every day on SABC 2's HecticNine 9, but whose the real Danilio (besides our fav Umlungu). Describe yourself in 3 adjectives and explain why?  Firstly, my name is spelled Danilo ;-). I'm driven, entrepreneurial and quirky.

2). How did you get into presenting? And is this what you see yourself doing in years to come? My story isn't very interesting. In my first year at UCT I was hosting the afternoon drive show on UCT Radio. One afternoon I arrived for my show and there was a camera crew there. They asked me to audition so I did. I was horrible. Luckily for me, one of the presenters was sitting in on my audition and immediately phoned the producer and told her that they had found the one they were looking for. The viewers then voted and the rest is history. I finished my degree and am now presenting full-time. In the years to come I definitely see myself diversifying my brand - moving into radio, producing TV and radio, working on 6B and starting a family.

3). What or who motivates you? God is at the centre of everything I do. But what keeps me motivated has always been my drive to see change in South Africa. I am an idea creator and I want to learn as much as I can now to see my ideas change the world in a small way.

4).   We all have strengths and weaknesses.  Name one strength and one weakness you have that would surprise us ... Strength: I'm very creative and driven;  Weakness: I'm a little too critical (uhmm ... we saw that after miss spelling your name, our apologies once again *hugs*)

5). We all want to be remembered for doing something great in our lives ... Tell us something about you that people will remember ... I will be that guy in industry who never compromised his morals in a chase for money or fame. I will be known for being the most driven and talented in a wide sphere of skills. I want people to realise that I studied law and didn't take the easy route into TV or into the limelight.

6). The online magazine 6B Magazine was recently launched on May the 1st of which you are a partner in, tell us a bit about the magazine ... 6B was created for people who are interested in the media industry whether that be music, drama, marketing, PR, TV, radio. We realise that not much information is being shared about how to get in to the industry and so we provide as much information as we can. We interview all the big names in the industry and they provide our readers with practical advice on getting into the industry. Aside from that we do tech reviews, app reviews and we have a whole section dedicated to resources where we have some funky CV templates which can be downloaded, acting tips, tutorials, a full list of universities that offer creative degrees and their application forms and bursary options. There is so much to find on the site that all I can say is that you would have to visit www.6bmag.com to join the movement and take your future into your own hands. The more questions you ask us the more answers you will receive from industry.

7). What do you hope the magazine achieves in the coming months? We are hoping to keep as many resources coming in to the site so that people use our site as a daily inspirational and information source. From there we look forward to finding opportunities for young creative’s to get involved and contribute to the success of the site.

8). Your bold fashion on HecticNine9 is often the topic of tweets where do you find your fashion inspirations? My style took time. And it is forever evolving. I'm really only inspired by my own eye. It's silly to look at a magazine and see what looks good on a muscular model and expect that to look good on me. So I trust my gut I guess... I'm definitely no style icon though.

9). Speaking of tweets, you get a lot of attention on twitter from girls, but a question that many girls want to know (we are sure) is there a special someone in your life? Luckily for all of your readers I am single. Unlucky for them but I am single by choice. I want to give the girl I am with everything I have and currently I am just too busy with my career that I won’t be able to treat any girl like the queen she deserves to be treated like.

10). Where were you and how did it feel the first time you were recognized as "that guy from hecticNine9" and realized you had reached Zaleb status? Shoowee. It took my fans a while to get used to me as I have transformed quite a lot since I started on the show. The first time I was ever approached in public was while I was at the ice rink at Grand West Casino and a few girls came up to me crying asking for a photo. It was very humbling and sweet. I am definitely not a Zaleb. I am too focused on being the best in my fields that I don't have time to live the high life. That's not fame in my eyes.

11). If you could stalk any Zaleb/Celeb who would it be and why? I think it would have to be Hermione Jean Granger (Emma Watson) from Harry Potter. I think she is beautiful and must have so much to share about her life growing up. She seems very humble.

12). STALKED IN 6!
#1) favourite food:
Sushi/seared Tuna
#2) favourite drink: Cranberry Juice
#3) Rugby Team: (be warned there is only one correct answer according to us) SHAAAAAARKS!!!! (Danilo gets an A+ with that answer! #SharksForever)
#4) which 3 south Africans, besides us 3 girls, would you love to have as dinner guests? And why. Julius Malema for his unintentional humour and because I love making fun of dumb politicians, Gareth Cliff because he is a good friend and I enjoy his intellectual conversations, and finally Madiba because I feel like he needs a break and would enjoy seeing us talk about the legacy our generation wants to leave to keep his hope alive.
#5) your favourite colour and why? Blue. I'm not too sure why but I think it is quite striking and is masculine but not too plain.
#6) We love reality TV! If you had your own show what would you call it? Umlungu gone wild (Sounds great, hope we get a guest appearance on the show)

13). And finally, what are your dreams and goals for your future? Where do you see yourself in say 5 years? I want to be the next Ryan Seacrest. I want to be on TV, producing TV, on radio, producing radio and owning my own company. I am half way there but I really would like people to recognise me for my hard work as opposed to some pseudo-fame.
