Frenemy:Friends or Enemies ? By @Smurfett_Li

Being a 90's kid, growing up there were two types of people in the world (the "world" at that stage was pretty much just school) - friends and enemies. But it seems that I've been wrong all those years because nowadays there's a combination of the two(which by now most of us know because of personal experience) known as FrenEmies.  I recently read an article that spotlighted this kind of relationship (don't suppose the word friendship could be used here?). It showed how people have just become so accustom to, well, fakeness!

So what exactly IS a frenemy? Well, simply put, a frenemy is someone who pretends to be your friend but is actually an enemy. (Hmm talk about keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.)

Almost everyone either is, was, or has a frenemy, including famous celebs!

Whether your feud was over a guy, (like Paris Hilton & Lindsay Lohan) or a fashion show (like Victoria Beckham & Katie Holmes) or even over stealing the spotlight from each other (like Lauren Conrad & Heidi Montag) one thing is for sure, when you have a frenemy, its for life!

So what exactly causes frienemies? Well it could a host of things, from a simple misunderstanding to maybe jealousy that's been building up for a long time and turned to resentment but either way it doesn't make it hurt any less.

I guess that part that hurts the most is knowing that once there was actually a friendship, and now all that's left is memories between strangers.

And what makes it gut wrenching and worth head banging? Knowing that you confided in them and opened up to a person who entertained you but never really cared about you.As with all things in life, never regret. Because while it may have hurt for a moment, these things shape you into who you are. As for the frenemy, kill that cow with kindness (shoot did I just say cow, oops I meant uhm uhm...oh forget it!). After all, life is one big ocean with plenty more friends to choose from.

Love and peace, ladies! No seriously this time...

Ciao!

@Smurfett_Li's 1st rugby game with @Jackey101

Hey guys! So I have some exciting news!  I went to my first rugby match...ever! And to my surprise, I had the most amazing time!

@Jackey101 is our rugby fanatic so last Friday, Jackey managed to swing us some tickets (with the help of East Coast Radio) to the Sharks vs Griquas match!
@Smurfett_Li celebrating a tri!
Now lemme just say, I wasn't too keen on watching rugby, let alone even going to a match! But @Jackey_101 managed to convert this soccer-lover into rugga fan! The rules are a bit confusing, well if you're a first-timer like me but after a while you start to get the hang of it and before you know it, you so engrossed in the match that you don't even realize that you've started calling the players "Champ"!

I think I can see myself finally becoming a rugby FAN-atic!

I never understood what the fuss was about until I felt the atmosphere at the stadium! You feel so apart of something. I literally watched the unity of people build in front of my very eyes.
@Smurfett_Li and @Jackey_101 with Keegan Daniel

Well this post would not be complete if there was no stalking mission on this trip. So we lived up to our name and walked the stadium until we found the rugby players! We waited outside the change room and it totally paid off because we managed to get some pics of the guys.  We had the opportunity to meet Keegan Daniel and JP Pieterson! We waited but unfortunately didn't get the chance to meet Pat Lambie because he had "slipped out" before anyone could see...(well so our source said).

@Smurfett_Li and @Jackey_101 with JP Pieterson
But you didn't get away that easily Patty-boy because we gonna be back since the Sharks made it to the semi's against the Blue Bulls on Sat!

Our night didn't end there! Not only did we do a bit of stalking but we were also the ones being stalked! As we were getting some pics taken, a few potential stalkers kept trying to get in our pics! They even took some pics of themselves to get us in their shot and then zoomed into our faces! (Yes guys, we are the mild version, you DO get worse!). After stalking us, they decided to do the "gentlemen" thing and ask us out for "a drink" but being the ladies that we are, we politely declined.
Our potential stalkers in the background
Our random fans who jumped in the pic

Wait! There's more! After being stalked and then asked out to a drink, we had a few other fans who decided to jump into some of our other pics! Except these guys were not so discreet...they just jumped in the middle of us and took the pics!

So with my first rugby match came my first taste of fame! And I gotta admit, I loved every minute of it! If anything else, it just makes me wanna be a Zaleb even more!

Let us know if you had any stalker experiences and what you thought of ours!

*Love n Peace, Peeps*

How @Smurfett_Li wined and dined with Master Le Clos

With all the hype surrounding @Jackey_101 and my night with the stars, I totally forgot to post about the night's main attraction! Chad Le Clos!
Even got to meet Papa Leclos!

After 2weeks of constantly tweeting Chad for a RT and finally getting it (which made not just my day but my week!), we managed to swing two tickets to a VVIP event held at Sibaya Casino in which there was a secret guest of honor (well not much of a secret now since I told you).

So hearing the term "VVIP", we were curious to find out who exactly this "Very Very Important Person" was....

Being the stalkers that we are, we managed to find out before everyone else that my man 'The Chad' was gonna be there

To say I was ecstatic was an understatement! Even though  we were out in public (at a cafè to be exact) I couldn't hold in my excitement any longer and I screamed for joy as Chaddie walked in!

When The Chad walked in!

I was going to meet the guy of my dreams! So many thoughts, not enough words!

I wondered if he would he be as tall as he looked? Or as friendly as he seemed? Or as gorgeous as he was on TV? (Which obviously without a doubt is true!)

The moment had arrived...

We walked in, and there he was...under a light, the sight was so angelic! His smile, that eyes and those dimples that make every girl in the room weak at the knees! (Just thinking about it gives me butterflies all over again!)

So the event started off with an interview with Chad (which was the best 15 min of my life!). Little did I know that they were about to call us to take pics with him...INDIVIDUALLY! It was the most breath-taking moment because for those 2seconds as you took your pic with Chad, you got to feel, just for that moment, that he was yours! (Still trying to make this permanent btw)

Look at that smile...We're meant to be!

The night continued to get better! After we took our pics with Chaddy, he was going to autograph them for us. After waiting a few minutes (which felt like a lifetime!) it was finally our turn to get our pics signed by "The Chad".

So he asked to whom must he make out the autograph and I told him my name but he spelled it wrong! I never in my life felt so honored when someone misspelled my name! After I told him about it, he was really sweet to adjust it and then wrote "my bad" and even added a "☺" on my autograph!

But my amazing night didn't end there! After smiling and signing our autographs, Chad stayed and mingled with the crowd. He was the most sweetest, down-to-earth guy that any girl would be lucky to meet (and in my case spend the whole evening with)!

There was one last thing that Chad had done that made me fall for him. I had the opportunity of meeting "The Chad" because @CarrieKups had given up her ticket for me! So while getting my autograph from him, I asked if he could maybe meet @CarrieKups after he was done with the signing of autographs and he said yes! All we had to do was wait until the end and he would meet her!

So @Jackey_101 and I waited until the end of the evening when Chad was available and just as he said he would,  he met our girl @CarrieKups!

Not only does he have the agility of a dolphin, the cutest puppy dog face and that body of a Calvin Klein model but he is also a man of his word, which in my books, makes him a man after any girl's heart <3

Why @Smurfett_Li might just be cheating on Chad Le Clos but with WHO?

So I was reading @CosmopolitanSA September issue a few days back, trying to get some inspiration for our blog when....the wind blew, the page turned and BAM! It hit me!

Wouldn't you like to know who this hottie is?

That dark hair, those brown eyes and that o-so-smoking bod. Heart-beating, knees weakening... A face that would to make any girl get butterflies! A real-life Mzanzi God! No no ladies, this aint a certain Mr Le Clos (with this description, you'de be forgiven for thinking it was ;)
He's tall...like 1.97m tall! (Nope not Mr Skeate either). He's a shy guy and a true gentleman who would prefer to meet a girl in the flesh. He's none other than bod(acious) Charl Crous (@Charlswim)! Desirable, gorgeous, and oh-so-sweet Olympic swimmer! That's right ladies, Durban's bred another swimming hottie #GottaLoveTheEastCoast

We tweeted him and he even agreed to take a Mini road trip with us @MINISouthAfrica interested in sponsoring a trip? #PrettyPleaseWithIceCream on top?

We hear he prefers to get to know his ladies and then take her on a date rather than date someone he met via facebook (hmmm wonder if he would consider a girl he met on twitter or a certain blog...wink wink nudge nudge) He also prefers to have a Dr. Peppers soft drink rather than a beer (uhm do we have that in SA, mense?).  Doesn't he just stand out from the crowd? (Notice my word play since he sooo tall...hehe)

Unlike 'The Chad', Charl's signature style is not Butterfly (like Chad's) but backstroke. Yay for me, he never has to go under water...sigh...can stare at the angelic face for the whole race #HappyDance

Charl finished 33rd overall in the men's 100 meter Backstroke heats, but unfortunately failed to reach the semifinals (perhaps that's why we may have not have seen about this KZN cutie)

He did comment on his experience.

He's so a keeper!
"Proud to say I'm an Olympian. London 2012 was an amazing learning experience, now putting my head underwater to start working towards Rio 2016!" Hunny, and we the Charlenes (charl-enes, can we use for the female fans #YouHeardItHereFirst) will be here all the way!

Let us know what you think of our latest cutie-pie and tweet us @Fairytales_Blog.

                                                                                                      Love and Peace, Peeps!

Why those 'not-so-random' random pics may just cost you: When the Stalking becomes the Stalked by @Smurfett_Li

Aw oh, how'd that get on there??
So how do you find out something you wanna know about someone WITHOUT actually asking them? A lil online stalking? Or maybe just send a friend request on our beloved fb.

Facebook's proven to be the best 'private' storyline of ANYONE's life.  It shows you who you dealing, what people think of them, who they think they are, and more importantly WHAT they WANT others to see them as...

ONG! Did you see that??
So is it best friends finding out things they never knew, or is it maybe others just realizing a whole new side to you? Are we really who we are on Facebook, or is it all just one big masquerade ball to make ourselves seem cooler (if people are still using that word? I'm a 90s child remember, we used it a lot)?

REALLY?!?
A lot of people blame social networks whenever things go... (uhm trying not to swear here)... Let's say astray. But truth is, the social networks don't break up relationships, expose secrets, and kill friendships. The things YOU post, or allow others to post/tag/mention you on do!

It could be anything from making a new "bestie", to flaunting what an active social life you have, to uploading pics that no one except you and your bf/gf should be seeing.

Let's face it, by you doing those things (that aim to show how fun, spontaneous or adventurous you may be), you just end up making yourself look like a bored, desperate, lonely person who has a need to show everyone how cool (again with that word #PardonMe) your life is.

I mean c'mon, if you were really having "sooo much fun" or enjoying how "totes awesome that place was", would you really have time to take all those pics??

A snap here and there, yeah sure why not! I mean you gotta have a few pics to reminisce on a few days later, but uploading 30 odd pics of you guys at Wakaberry...seriously??

So many pics, so little time *sigh*
Everyone wants to have fun and not care what anyone thinks BUT when it comes to sharing the intimacy levels between you and your bf/gf, there IS a line...

No one wants to see what you and your partner have been up to in your alone time (if our generation even knows what that is). For example, the love bites that look like he's been attacked somewhere out in the wilderness by a stray dog (let's call him dingo), or how "in love" you guys are. I mean if you really so in love, tell the person personally instead of filling up people's news feeds with back-and-forth "I love you"'s.
Because when you fight, the whole of Facebook is gonna see that too.

So in the end, I guess I will never really will know ALL sides of a person...well not from fb at least.

Till then I'll continue to (Silently) judge their silly profile pics, and laugh at their "random" uploads (that look so practiced) .

Just a parting shot of advice: remember that what you have done on Facebook may have been done in the moment. But we live in a world where people are too busy to get to know the real you and often you are judged on your first impression (which in this case is a Facebook or twitter profile- any online presence really).
GUYS! u gotta come see this!

As a rule of thumb, if you wouldn't show your mother, don't put it on Facebook. Just think that "not so random album" may just cost you a kick ass job opportunity in the near future.

The 90's: The Good Ol' Days with @Smurfett_Li

For us 90's kids, there will always be something that we miss from the period when boy bands ruled the world, Spice Girls schooled us on girl power (who says music taught us nothing), and the only Justin you knew was Timberlake (yeah Biebs, a lil before your time) . Sigh, I miss the good ol days when your parents made those homemade videos that you secretly wished would end up on America’s Funniest Home Video’s (thats right YouTube, we craved fame even from then). But you also knew wouldn’t be used as blackmail against you, distributed via facebook, shared on twitter, posted on a stalker blog (uhm this is not us at all), and then shown to that hot guy in your class without your permission! You trusted something in everyone back then, or maybe thats my naive 90s kid talking.

But either way, we all miss something that we just don’t get anymore. I’ve made a list of my  favourites, have I left anything out? Well, forgive me it’s just that there is so much I miss, so I've summarized it and made a list of 10 things this generation is missing out on:

#1. The ORIGINAL Rascals! The fun of buying rascals was for the cute lil Rascal as the bottle! And the fact that we all later turned it into a juice bottle! #Score. Sadly, not even Google remembered what this was...

The only Justin we 90 kids knew...
#2. The music. Which came with the cute 90's boy bands like Backstreet Boys, Nsync, and Savage Garden (remember them?). Now, we have the likes of Justin Bieber...seriously?? Ooh ooh not forgetting Any and ALL things Spice Girls!! I mean who didn't wanna be Posh Spice, or Sporty Spice or even Baby Spice (#Dibs that’s me).

#3. The comedy sitcom shows. Like for instance, F. R. I. E. N. D. S.  I mean who doesn't want a good laugh out of Joey Tribbiani (Matt Le Blanc). I remember being chased out the lounge cos F.R.I.E.N.D.S was too adult! Ha! The good ol days...

#4. The original Monopoly where you pay thousands of rands (well, here in SA anyway) for unknown property,  lil dog was your moving piece, and CBD was the highest valued property!

Remember her?
#5. The original Disney Saturday morning shows like Lizzie McGuire, That's So Raven and Even Stevens, NOT talking fish and 11 year olds in high school with MAJOR ATTITUDE PROBLEMS!

#6. The original CARTOON NETWORK not Cartoonito. With the cartoons like Power Puff Girls (PPG) and Cow 'n Chicken and not forgetting, Jonny Bravo (I think I know some boys who modelled their dating strategy on him #EpicFail Boys).

Hey! Arnold - miss that guy

#7. KTV/Kids World! With Hey Arnold, Power Rangers.

#8. Bubbaloo! The awesome bubble gum that made you spend whatever little pocket money you had just to have one.

#9. TV games! The real TV games though, like Mario Brothers and The Lion King. And the game consoles with those funny cartridges that you had to blow into to get working again!

#10. The funny family-friendly movies such as Beethoven 1 and 2, Home Alone 1,2,3 and 4 , and Baby Genius'.

*Sigh* ..At the risk of sounding like our parents: they really don't make 'em like they used to...

Well, we have some pretty awesome stuff these days too. So don’t get this post wrong, I aint dissing anything...Just reminiscing about the Good Old Days...

And btw Biebs, “ As long as you love me” really does belong to our boys, Backstreet. After all Backstreet Boys ARE BACK! (Ok not really, lol a girl can wish ok)

Tinkerbell, Martha, Buddy and Me! by @Smurfett_Li

What do you think? My first batch of cup-cakes ever!

So a few weeks ago, I wrote a post about being a fatal fail baker. Well guys, I have news for you! Since then, I've decided to clean up my act and become more domesticated (after much  nagging from my gran).

I said that there was no such thing as a fail proof recipe and only fail proof bakers. Well turns out, I’m a step closer to being a stalker version of Martha Stewart! Oh yeah....Feeling like a BOSS (a slang term we use here in SA for the shizzle).

So I dedicated a day (yes that means sacrificing Phineas and Ferb! AND a NEW episode of Cake Boss!!) and put some bakers grease into it. I decided to use my stalker tendencies to find a kick-ass vanilla cupcake recipe which can be done in 20min!

Oh yeah, I think I can still make that Cake Boss episode....

So guys, take advantage of my stalker tendencies and try it out:

All you gotta do is add:
Ok so my pipping needs a lil work, think Buddy would approve?
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)

Mix all together and pop in the oven and voilĂ ! You've got flop-proof cupcakes!

Let us know if you tried it and how they turned out! Got any recipes to share? Email them to us on fairytalesnstalkers@gmail.com

Keep it glam, hunnies!

“Cassidee – The next YouTube Sensation?” by @Jackey_101

The guys in action on stage!
This past week, we got a tweet from @CassideeMusic a new French band asking us to check them out on Youtube, Yes new bands do ask us to check them out cause let’s face it our opinion really matters to people! They may have tweeted a few other twitter users too, but that’s not really the point here!  Once we had listened to the bands cover of PayPhone on YouTube, we knew that they had something special.  This band is really talented!  One of their original songs “Don’t Pass Me By” is a real gem!   Cassidee sounds nothing like that over-processed and commercial pop music that we seem forced to listen to lately (think Selena Gomez and the Scene or even Justin) Sorry Biebs.  Instead when you listen to their music, you are able to hear their voices and make out the lyrics, which is actually really great!

Now, not many may know Cassidee (since they’re new) but we got the opportunity to sit down and interview them. (Well, not really sit with them since they are in France) I think in a previous post we did note that our travel budget is like non-existent. Bank details are available on request and donations most welcome!Cassidee members when you read this remember you owe us your first big interview once you hit the big time, Deal??

The band Cassidee is made up of 3 really talented guys (there use to be 4 of them but one has left for personal reasons. Hmmm do I smell a story here?).  Tristan Renault (@CassideeTristan) plays the guitar and sings, Remi Bablon (@CassideeRemi) plays bass and does back up and then, there’s Kevin Cessin (@CassideeKevin) who plays the drums and also sings.  So that’s three guys that can all play an instrument AND sing!
The guys with ex-band member Thibault
Too bad that two of guys have girlfriends.  But we hear that Remi is single, ooh willing to mingle? Hehe… Sorry, girls you may have to fight for their affections because we girls might be their biggest fans!  The band got their name from “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” (Tristans favourite movie) but changed the spelling because of the rapper, Cassidy.  Remi said  that since he watched a youtube video of Blink182 performing live 5 years ago, he knew that he wanted to make music.   “I feel like flying somewhere haha so hard to explain”, he said.

Don't stare into his eyes Tristan,
mine are waiting!
The band is from North Eastern France, and says they do not feel that being French has had any influence their music.  One thing I found, is that listening to them you would not be able to say they are ACTUALLY from France. their accents do not come across in their music at all! Albeit a very sexy French accent, I’m sure… When we told them this they replied that many people are surprised to hear that they are French.
Being young (all in their early 20’s) they said that they get a greater response from female fans; although they would like their music to appeal to everyone. They have received many positive responses from all over the world.  “Don’t Pass Me By” has already been aired on a Dutch radio station recently thanks to a fan in Australia.  Tristan writes all the songs for the band, and can be described as the sensitive guy ;) (we found this out after assuming they only do covers.  Note to self: True stalkers always do research on the subject!)

What would one of our blog posts be without any real stalkerish antics?  Well, we found a fans twitter account for the guys (@CassideeFans.)
Do we need to add them to our
list of best (un)dressed guys? hmmm!!
We also found out that Tristan is scared of spiders and Remi’s favorite color is purple and he only wears black socks! (okay we know that’s not really tantalizing info but hey we had to stalk from thousands of miles away!!!)

Ps: Guys, if you ever in South Africa, give us a call…Hopefully our Prince Charmings wouldn't mind too much…

So go check these guys out on YouTube/Twitter/Facebook/Myspace and anywhere else on the net. Let us know what you think of them.

Till the next victim! Love and Peace, Ladies!
