How to Get Great Skin

Every girl wants to look picture perfect with flawless skin. How else will we look glamorous in our future paparazzi pics? As future WAGS, we thought we would share our top 5 tips to great skin.

Remember girls, great skin doesn't happen overnight so practice these tips and wait for your results!

Here are our 5 steps to better skin:

1.       Cleanse

Never underestimate the power of daily maintenance. Wash your face at least once a day with a gentle cleanser. Wash twice a day if you suffer from oily skin. Treat your skin as it were fine silk – using a gentle circular motion upward from your neck rather vigorously scrubbing.

Be sure to be gentle

2.       Sun Protection

A good sunscreen is important for sun protection as well as to prevent moisture loss. Aim to use a moisturizer with a built in broad spectrum SPF 30 or apply sunscreen under your moisturizer. Be sure to invest in a good quality oil-free, water-based product. NEVER leave home without applying sunscreen.

3.       Moisturize

Invest in a good moisturizer as part of your skin regime.  Applying a moisturizer will create a barrier on your skin that keeps essential oils from escaping and harmful outside elements from causing dryness or irritation. Try to avoid using just an ordinary lotion. Be sure to use a moisturizer with a built in SPF - this will somewhat protect you from wrinkles as you grow older. Let's age gracefully beauties!

4.       Diet

Your skin needs to be hydrated from the inside out. If your diet isn't already rich in Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, take a vitamin supplement. Change your diet to include lots of green veggies such as broccoli spinach, and asparagus. Also, make sure you also include plenty of antioxidant-rich food such as blueberries, green tea, avocado, and beans. Nut and berries can be great to snack on, instead of chips and chocolates. But indulge once in a while...as we always say everything in moderation.

Must eat foods

5.       Sleep

Your sleeping pattern has a big part to play in your quest to picture-perfect skin. They don’t call is beauty sleep for nothing. Cortisol, the stress hormone, ages the skin and can cause acne. Sleep is known to reduce the cortisol level in your body. So don’t feel guilty when you hit the bed by nine o’clock. You are well on your way to looking like Sleeping Beauty! Aim to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night.

Don't say Disney never thought you anything

TOP 10 THINGS NOT TO DO AT GYM

It’s no secret that this year we, three, decided to up our annual gym dose ( aka hit the gym a whole lot more often). We’re pretty much living there, but while we’re out and about doing our thang, we’ve heard (and noticed) some behaviour that’s been getting everyone’s attention for all the wrong reasons...

We break down the TOP 10 THINGS NOT TO DO AT GYM

Question is: which are we guilty off?  *gulp*

1)      Wearing make-up to the gym.

One question: WHY?? The point of gym is to look totes cute OUTSIDE of the gym, not in it! No matter how sexy my trainer may be *sigh* Oops! I mean THE trainer – You don’t wanna be known as THAT girl who tries too hard. If you absolutely must use make-up, just a barely-there look will do. No need for full Hollywood glamour (@Jackey_101 just narrowly escapes being found guilty here. She does the barely there thing brilliantly)

2)      Taking selfies at the gym.

Don't be this person...

Hash-tagging #ReadyAndMotivated with a gym selfie on Instagram isn’t gonna get you that body. But it does make everyone awkwardly stare at you while you supposed to be working out. I love selfies just as the next Gen-Yer but rather take those selfies at home . The gym isn’t really the place...

3)      Getting your friends to take pics of how hard you working out.

Don’t be THAT person. Let people notice WITHOUT you posting the pic of how hard you working-out on every social medium possible. A pic now and then is great but too many and you will be getting noticed for the wrong reason

4)      Spending half your gym session chatting up said trainer.

As hot as he may be, you need to show him that you actually DO come to the gym to work out and not (just) have your daily slice of cutie pie. (Don’t judge me; I know you do it too! - @Smurfett_Li GUILTY!)

5)      “Working out” in the circuit just to perv over the guys.

Once again ladies, DON’T BE THAT PERSON! If the guy wants you to notice him, he will make sure you do. You should catch his eye too, NOT just the other way around. Play it cool – let him come up to you.  Make him work for it! Once that is achieved THEN we stalk coz we know they’re interested. Ya feel me?

6)      Going to the gym every single day of the week…for all the WRONG reasons.

No, we know you’re NOT that dedicated. We also know that you’re trying to make sure you bump into that hottie that greeted you that one time coz he accidentally made eye-contact. Yes, @CarrieKups, we ARE talking to you. Yup this little stalker is becoming an actual stalker...sorry sis, someone had to tell you. GUILTY!

7)      Going to the gym to catch up with friends.

It’s so hard to see your friend and NOT spend at least 20 minutes catching up on your week. But remember ladies, that’s what coffee dates are for. That way you get to show off that sexy bod that you’ve been working out for AND catch up. Killing two birds with one stone – now that’s what I’m talking about! All three of us are GUILTY!

8)      Wearing a cap to the gym.

Ok, this is one I am proud to say we do NOT do! There’s no need for UV protection in a place that aint got no UVs.

9)      Wearing jeans and sneakers to the gym.

Yet again, not guilty. There’s plenty of other ways to look cute at the gym. Can anyone say Mr. Price sport??

10)   Moving gym equipment out of its original place.

When you use something, it’s common knowledge that you put it back from where you found it, right? Wrong! A lot of people move the equipment around while chatting and trying to impress their friends and/or handsome strangers. As much as I’m all for catching the eye of the handsome hottie, you shouldn’t make others run around the gym in search of the skipping rope – no matter how much of a work-out you think you may be giving them in the process.

That's all for now folks!

*Love & Peace*

Wearing MakeUp To The Gym

Confession time ... I wear make up to the gym!

Yes, you read that right!

Hmm?
Do or Don't?
Ok so I understand (as many have pointed out including Jen and Carrie) the point of going to gym is to work out but you're bound to get hot and sweaty. With all those mirrors, I want to see the most fabulous version of myself staring right back (and hopefully a few hotties will be staring as well...)

Now I'm not talking full glamour glitz (that I save for the rugby ... I have to catch a certain Mr Daniel's attention somehow!)

But think about it! How many hot guys are there at gym??? At our gym - TONS! So why not take advantage of opportunity that life threw your way hehe...You don't have to overkill the makeup and clog your pores but as they   say everything in moderation ladies...

OMG! #TrueStory

If you're anything like me, then you too can't live without a coat (who am I kidding like 3 coats) of mascara and lip gloss.

Here's how I go from sweaty to sexy. Hmm maybe I say "Glow" cause really sweat sounds so gross.

So redo, here is how I glow and keep sexy at the gym:

1. DITCH THE FOUNDATION!

Instead use a tinted moisturizer! This way you get the coverage AND your skin gets to breath! If you really have to, dab a little concealer on those pesky blemishes.

2. at the same time DITCH THE GLOSS

While it may make your lips look oh so kissable, after 10mins in the gym its gone (*sigh* tried and tested). Rather opt for a lip liner one shade darker then your lips. Colour in lips, add a little balm & hey presto your lips no longer look washed out for the work out.

3. NO NEED FOR BLUSH LADIES!

After all once you start the work out you have naturally rosy cheeks *YAY*

4. BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER!

Play up the eyes. Choose a good waterproof (important: this is the key to not looking like a drowned raccoon) eyeliner and a coat (or two,) of mascara.

5. THE HAIR

Finally no look is complete without the hair done. Put your hair up in a cute bun or braid either way add a few clips & look oh so adorable!

CONCLUSION

So there you have it ... My little confession and why I wear mascara (& a little more make up) to the gym. If you one those girls who can totally rock no make up at gym - then I envy you! But these tips are just from my personal experience and who knows maybe soon, I may just give up the makeup...

But after all, every girls knows...

Jelly Sandals are B-A-C-K!

I remember when I was much younger (about 5yrs old or so) and this awesome new shoe trend hit our playground - jelly sandals.

I think the brand was called Jelly Babies and every little girl had one (well except me sorta but I am getting to this life lesson in a bit).  I wanted them SO badly (mainly cos everyone in my Gr 0 class had one and well hello they were see-through!), so I decided to ask my mum for a pair. My mother being as understanding as she was, politely agreed and at the end of the month I got a pair.

But guess what, it was the wrong one! My mother bought me the ugly, flat pink ones and not the totally-on-trend clear ones with the heel! The tragedy! I couldn't go to school with these ugly versions! Did this women think she was shopping for a 5yr old?

The " ugly" version my mother bought me

So I decided to tell her exactly what I thought of them...

And suddenly...BHAM! I caught a thick shot on my bum for being ungrateful and of course a speech on appreciating the the life I had. So naturally this was the first memory that popped into my head when I saw that jelly sandals had made their comeback!

The one that everyone had
and the one I ACTUALLY wanted, mother

Now every time I see this shoe, I remember my mother's hand meeting my backside and the power of appreciation. Needless to say, I learnt my lesson and never pulled that stunt with her again. I quite like these ones from Mr Price though. My birthday is coming up so maybe I should hint hehe...

The shoe that made these memories come flooding back
Available now at Mr Price
So will you be throwing back to the 90's and rocking jelly sandals this summer?

Don't Compromise! Live the Life You Deserve!

I came across a saying today that really grabbed my attention:

When you have to start compromising yourself and your morals for the people around you, it’s probably time to change the people around you. If someone continuously mistreats you or pushes you in the wrong direction, have enough respect for yourself to walk away from them. It may hurt for a little while, but it’ll be ok. You’ll be ok, and far better off in the long run.”

I know it might seem a little dark to post something like this right in the beginning of a New Year. But for me, there is no more perfect time! While you are all busy making those new year resolutions happen, sorta take stock of your life and see what or rather who you might be compromising yourself for. Never underestimate your worth to those around that already love you ( and this version of you)....

And if you have that one pesky person who is trying to change you (and not for the better), maybe it's time to ignore them. You are an individual and how you choose to define YOU is completely up to YOU.

I guess that is sort of my new year's resolution too - "To Stop Letting People Tell Me Who I  Need To Be". I can't tell you how many times I got told to YOLO a bit more (and fell into the trap and was miserable), but guess what, that's not me! My version of fun may not be yours, and that's ok (well I am slowly learning this now). So while you are doing your stock take, you don't have to literally toss the person out - rather black out what you deem negative to you. And remember,

" Stand Up For What You Believe In, or You Will Fall For Anything"

**Love & Peace** ladies

2014 Here We Go!

So we have finally entered the new year  - 2014 is here BABY! We are officially back to our 8-5 jobs (no not being awesome, that's a 24/7 thing) so now its time to set some goals.

Sigh* before we get there, it's been a bit sad to say our goodbyes...

goodbye festive shopping...hello bills
goodbye Christmas wishes...hello New Year's Resolutions
and lastly goodbye lazy summer sleep ins...hello early mornings @ gym...(well that's part of the New Year's Resolutions which I am about to get to in a minute)

Ushering in 2014 together (well in spirit), the girls and I started to pin down a few goals (New Year Resolutions if you will). Naturally being the dreamers that we are, we pinned down our top 3 things to check off in 2014:

1. Get to the Gym!

Ok so we have some work to do...

We three have these Victoria-Secret-Model-looking bodies in mind come 2015; so naturally that means GYM! So far @Jackey_101 is doing pretty well going 3 times a week. While @Smurfett_Li  and myself have dodged the gym so far #MuchCatchingUpToDo we will be aiming for 4 times a week. Sigh...

2. Travel!

Italy...
Or

Greek Islands #DecisionsDecisions

This year we 3 take our first all girls holiday together! Gotta show off these fab bikini bodies somewhere (well when we get them). Its a toss up between sailing the Greek Islands or Italia!

3. Find Our Great Loves...

Ah that look all Disney Pinces give their ladies...
Sign me up for one of those!

This one is a little tricky. While we can only hope, we also know that we can't be coupled up on our Euro Holiday. After all, how's a girl to meet a football hottie (or rugby hottie for your Jax) when she's already got a mister. That's how we comfort ourselves ok! So here's to our #WAGDreams! On a serious note, we not actually planning to carry this resolution out. We gonna leave this to fate and possibly a few well-thought out tweets to let certain rugby players and/or One Direction members and/or football players and/or other athletes know we are single - and then let fate show them we are the Ones. If that doesn't work, stalking it will be!

While our resolutions are pretty cliche, our main resolution is to somehow discover a little bit more of ourselves. After all, these are the years you will remember forever!

Here is to LOVE, PEACE & GYM in 2014!
